Yes. Payment of holiday tax is obligatory. At any time, Italian Councils have the right to apply a holiday tax. For this reason, where and when it is in force, the tax must be paid directly to the hotel in accordance with existing legislation, even if the holiday tax has only been imposed or altered after the holiday has been booked. Below is the detail of the exemptions from the payment of the Tourist tax, as required by the relevant municipal regulations in force:
Apulia - Valentino Resort and Alborèa Ecolodge Resort, Calanè Resort and Kalidria Hotel & Thalasso SPA
- children under 16 and over 67 years old;
- disabled people and a companion, upon presentation of medical certification;
- residents in the Municipality of Castellaneta Marina.
Apulia - Torreserena Resort
- children under 12;
- disabled, upon presentation of medical certification;
- residents in the municipality of Ginosa Marina.
Apulia - GranSerena Hotel
- children under 12;
- disabled people and a companion, upon presentation of medical certification;
- residents in the Municipality of Fasano; 50% reduction for users of Spa treatments in possession of a medical prescription.
Calabria - Serenè Resort
- children under 10.
Calabria - Sibari Green Resort
- children under 4.
Sicily - Serenusa Resort
- children under 12 and over 70.
Sardinia - Calaserena Resort
- children under 15 and over 65;
- disabled people and a companion, upon presentation of medical certification.
Sardinia – Is Serenas Badesi Resort
- children under 14;
- disabled people and a companion, upon presentation of medical certification.
Piedmont - Hotel Sansicario Majestic
- children under 12;
- disabled people and a companion, upon presentation of medical certification.
